PROGRAMS
TUTORIAL SPACE
Educational achievement gaps associated with socio-economic status have persisted for decades in California and young people residing in disadvantaged communities are facing immense educational challenges. CDRI’s tutorial space provides educational activities that complement schooling and enhance young people’s intellectual abilities.
HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE INTERNSHIPS
CDRI’s internship program aims to raise capacity in high school seniors and college-age youth to contribute meaningfully to the progress and development of their communities. With the support of an assigned mentor, interns carry out action in the community in the areas such as math and language education, health, and local economy. Interns are awarded a small scholarship to assist with financial obligations associated with higher education.
ENGLISH FOR TRANSFORMATION
Underlying CDRI’s program for English language acquisition is the conviction that all people, regardless of nation of origin, educational level, or class have a part to play in building a united and prosperous world. Classes, then, offer an approach to learning English that seeks to empower participants to act as protagonists of change in their families and community.
